Winemaker’s Dinner

Winemaker’s Dinner

Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 7pm

Featuring wines from Burgundy, Rhône & Languedoc-Rousillon

Hosted by Sandy Pogue of The Epicurean
& Thomas Grouard Lillelund of the French Corner Wines

There’s a lot of wine out there, and many of the great finds are not able to promote themselves heavily. And some, frankly, just don’t want to—for the wine industry, being artisanal in nature, is full of those passionate souls who just enjoy making a good product, so they make just enough of it to swing a living. Our November Winemaker’s Dinner is a perfect example of those passionate souls… four of them, to be exact: one from Bordeaux, one from Burgundy, one from the Rhone Valley and one from the Languedoc.

Domaine Nadine Ferrand ~ Mâcon Solutré-Pouilly, Bourgogne ~ France 2012
« Sourced from 40-year-old Chardonnay vines without any oak contact, the 2012 Macon Solutré-Pouilly offers attractive chalky scents on the nose, with hints of brioche and honeysuckle in the background. Truffle Mushroom Crème Brûlée

Domaine de l’Amauve ~ Côtes du Rhône Villages Séguret Laurances, S. Rhône ~France 2010
« “The 2010 is a knock-out and a sleeper of the vintage. Crushed rocks and large quantities of raspberry and black cherry fruit intermingle with the wine’s minerality. Medium-bodied, with loads of fruit, depth and texture, this is an amazing value that can be drunk over the next 2-3 years. This estate in Séguret is owned by Christian Voeux, winemaker and general manager of the renowned Château La Nerthe in Châteauneuf du Pape. » RP’90 ~ 80% Grenache & 20% Syrah
